First show

Went to my first show yesterday - WOW.  There was so much going off, I got a bit excited on the exercise field, kept hearing my name in the distance but somehow just wasn't able to respond straight away - oh well.  Then we went inside!!! There were so many differant types of dog, I just wanted to say hello to them all at the same time.  Some of them were doing that thing that mum does with the others at the training place, I really hope I get to do that one day.  Mum did some work with me by the ring and I was very good and did everything she asked, I even waited while she walked round, was a bit tempted to chase the dog running round the ring but she was giving me something called liver...............

I did get told off twice yesterday though.  Once when we were on the field and these 2 big black dogs came running over, think they were called poodles.  They were very frightening but I couldn't let them know that, so as soon as they turned around and ran off I chased them and barked at them and it made them go away, I thought I was very clever but mum obviously didn't think so.  Sure I detected a laugh from her though.  The other time I got told off was when I was guarding the water bowl at home, Chase, Phase and Gyp all wanted a drink and I wouldn't let them have one, they are sooo scared of my growl - ha.

I am now officially a grown up!!  I have learnt to cock my leg when I wee, mum says this is very early so I think I am very clever, can't manage it everytime though, will just have to keep practising.

I now have a new bowl - it's a slow feeder one :(.  Kai had to have a new one too as the plastic one he had has rubbed all his nose and it's gone all scabby - mum says if it's gonna happen, it's gonna happen to Kai.

My favorite place in the garden now is on the bench.  I can jump up and then climb on the back to smell what next door is cooking, it's ace.  I can also sit on the bench and watch mum through the window while she works, this makes her laugh loads.
Was playing hide and seek with mum the other day, she was looking all over the kitchen and couldn't find me lol, it took her ages to spot me on TOP of my crate and hidden by the breakfast bar.

Storm was a bit quiet on Saturday and I think mum was a bit worried but he's back to his old self today - great! means he'll keep me in check again.  He is definately the boss, I daren't tell him what to do but the others are a pushover and know I'm going to be top dog one day.

I am getting really good at my left and right turns and have started working on sendaways.  I love working. Chase gets a bit miffed that I get loads of attention though, think he was her special boy before I came along.  Right I'm off to do some balance training, mum has put more air in the discs and it's really hard now!!

Busy week

Well I've had a busy week this week.  Went to the vets to have my microchip inserted again (the last one fell out :/).  The vet asked mum if she wanted them to take me in the back so they don't associate the pain with her - what pain!  The treat I was nibbling on was great and before I knew it I was going beep when they put this mouse thing on my back - I thought it was really funny.  Storm came to the vets with me for a check up on his heart and the vet was really pleased, said his heartbeat had dropped so that was good news :)

Also learnt to balance on a balance disc, this was really easy and I think I'm much better than the others at it, Chase is pretty good though.  Have done a lot of training in the garden this week as it's been nice weather, I like working outside cos there's so much more going off, I get distracted easily though.

I got told off for eating the new memory foam dog bed, was fun at the time but wasn't so keen when it came out the other end - will think twice about doing that again!

Welcome

Hi I'm Edge a 16 week old blue Border Collie.  I live with my mum & dad and 5 brothers & sisters.  First is Storm a 13 1/2 year old black/white tri BC, mum said it is good that he is still here as he is a great teacher - I beg to differ as he's always telling me off!  He has a grade 6 heart murmur but you wouldn't know it sometimes and remains top of the pack.  Then there's Kai a red/white BC, he's 10 and I just love winding him up, he tells me off but he never hurts me so I know I can get away with murder lol.  Gyp's an 8 year old black/white border collie and I play with her ALL the time, though she gets grumpy after 10pm guess she needs her beauty sleep.  Last but not least are the twins Chase & Phase they are both blue/white BC's and are 5 (apparantly they are my biological aunty & uncle).  Well that's my doggie family, I am slowley working my way round all of them, mum says I'm very confident and clever which I think is a good thing but it makes her quite strict with me which is boring, I have my ways of working her too though and can usually make her laugh even though I've 'according to them' done something naughty.
For instance, yesterday I was out walking with mum & Storm at a new park, mum kept calling me and I stayed with her but only cos I know she had a pocket full of treats, (Storm likes walking with me because there's always treats on offer, he says to watch out cos when I grow up she won't bring treats out anymore - we'll see!) Anyway, I was being such a good boy and then I met 2 terriers who were MY SIZE :D, wow it was great - thought they were a bit rough a couple of times but I can handle it.  I hadn't noticed mum walking away though I faintly heard my name a few times, now what's a pup to do???? Well eventually when the westie bowled me over for the 3rd time I decided enough was enough and left to get a treat from mum.  I got loads of praise when I got there, must remember that for future, if I ignore her for a bit and then go back I get extra praise :D
Right I'm off now, have things to chew n all that
